Woodwork Curriculum Projects - Class VII

Class VII pupils at my school have been working with the theme of inner and outer form during their woodwork lessons. Learning to carve with a gouge and a mallet not only teaches practical skills and hand dexterity, but pupils learn to navigate the grain of the wood, design skills and developing a sense of how the inner form of a bowl relates to the outer form.

Woodwork Curriculum Projects - Class VI

Some of the work my Class VI pupils have been doing during their Woodwork lessons. With this age group children are exploring straights and curves when working with resistant materials while getting to know various hand tools as well as bringing in some of their own design ideas. I love it how making simple Spoons and Spatulas can give such a variety of different finished products!
