AJ Bell Bristol Half Marathon 2024

I managed to do very little training during the lead up to this year's Bristol HM but decided to go for it anyway. The first 18km went relatively smooth despite the hot weather, I was feeling good and maintained a consistent pace. Due to the lack of training however, I suddenly hit a wall and needed to alternate running and walking until the finish line - which couldn't come soon enough!! Still, all things considered, I managed a reasonable time of 2hrs 8min and 47sec...

Gloucestershire Way - Section 11

We did it! On Sunday we completed the last Section of the Gloucestershire Way (Dixton Hill to Tewkesbury Abbey, 15.3km) 🌿 The landscape changed considerably, from descending the Cotswold escarpments to the agricultural flats of the Severn Vale. Plenty of wild flowers and rewarding views of Tewkesbury Abbey, followed by a well deserved pizza at the local Italian! Until the next trail…

Gloucestershire Way - Section 10

Today we walked Section 10 of the Gloucestershire Way (from Cutsdean Hill to Dixton Hill, 15.6km) 🌿 After our winter break, we got back on the trail and managed to complete the penultimate section, with plenty of muddy slipping and sliding, incredible trees and comforting drizzle! As always, the views and landscapes were awe inspiring, the steam train in the distance provided some additional atmosphere and some glimpses of sun kept spirits high. We will be arriving at the trail's end next month...

Sustainable Woodland Management

I felt lucky to be able to attend an AIM Level 3 course in Sustainable Woodland Management the last 3 days. The course was organised and hosted by Small Woods in Ironbridge, in beautiful Shropshire. Small Woods are the national association for woodland stewardship and oversee, advise, train and support small woodland owners, trustees, workers and enthusiasts.

The course offered a huge amount of information on how to access advice and data, the obligations and responsibilities that come with ownership or managing a woodland site, as well as learning about the product and economic conversion of any produce, how to grow and develop small woodlands sustainably and to work towards a resilient future! There was a lot of theory and some amazing practical elements too. I enjoyed my stay at the centre and even managed to experience a little bit of the local landscape and culture too!
