Thoughts on Bushcraft

Below are some of my thoughts and interpretations on the values and importance of Bushcraft and the outdoors:

"Bushcraft is to gain skills, knowledge and confidence in order to be comfortable in the outdoors, for living and thriving in the natural environment and for using nature's resources in a sustainable manner.
Bushcraft skills include camp crafts, fire crafts, wood crafts - including how to use tools such as knives and axes, living off the land - including foraging and hunting, providing shelter and protection from the elements and other wilderness survival skills such as use of water, cordage and wild food cooking.
Many of these skills might be based on the experience and knowledge gained by cultures from around the world, some of which have been applied and refined over many years.
Above all, Bushcraft is about striving to learn more about the flora and fauna around us with a deep respect and interest for what nature can offer to the human being."

A happy 2014 to all!
