Glencoe, Scotland

On our last day in Scotland we visited Castle Kilchurn and took the B8074 through beautiful Glen Ochry up to the spectacular landscape of Glencoe! Having travelled through the area many years ago, I'd forgotten how amazing this landscape is. The weather was glorious which gave us views as far as the eyes could see. I would love to go back and spend longer in Glencoe and surrounding mountains and glens...

Ben Lawers, Scotland

On our recent trip to Loch Tay in Scotland, we decided to walk at least one 'Munro' (mountains over 3000 ft/915 m). So we ended up doing Ben Lawers (1214 m) and because of the ascent route we took, we ended up going over Beinn Ghlas too (1103 m) - another Munro! Ben Lawers also happens to be the 10th highest mountain in the whole of the UK! Despite the weather forecast predicting low cloud, it turned out to be glorious sunshine which gave us views all the way to Ben Nevis! And of course, we finished with a pint by the fire in the pub...

House Building ML - Class III

Class III pupils usually learn about lots of land-based and rural traditional skills and crafts. I was asked to lead a main lesson block on house-building and primitive shelter building and I decided to help them construct an Iron Age Roundhouse shelter. We started the block with a story about some ancient tribe that had migrated to the area, settling to build their village.
